In 1991, a cluster of visionary downtown business owners and managers joined together to re-establish the SLDA determined to refocus government, residents, business, and associations on the downtown. Attenton to area beautification, the growing array of retail and professional services, sensitive economic development and access to friendly customer/client service were just a few of their first projects. The Miracle on E. 14th Street festival, now a popular holiday event was launched and continues today along with the Sausage & Suds Festival. Driven by their members' passionate dedication to serve the downtown, the spirited services of the SLDA outreach, impact, and community contributions continue to grow every year.
